The “clear voiced and giddy” tenor, Geoffrey Agpalo, was featured in Opera News Magazine in June of 2018, coinciding with his debut as Alfredo in the production of La Traviata at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. This marked the beginning of his ascent in the world of opera as a formidable stage performer. His Alfredo was described as “proud and majestic” while his voice was “relentlessly tragic . . . resonating emotionally with the audience”.

His demand became apparent after landing several role debuts in the 2019/2020 season, which include Tamino with Opera Maine, Ottavio with Michigan Opera Theatre, and Nemorino with Sarasota Opera. Geoffrey returned to the role of Jim Casy in The Grapes of Wrath, also at Michigan Opera Theatre, after portraying the lapsed preacher in the production’s premier at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. He trained in the Saint Louis company’s Gerdine Young Artist and Gaddes Festival Artist programs and has performed roles in their productions of The Barber of Seville, Emmeline, and the world premier of Jack Perla’s Shalimar the Clown where he created the role of Gopinath, the conniving school teacher.

In his home town of Chicago he has performed with Chicago Folks Operetta in the Cousin from Nowhere and Lehar’s The Land of Smiles as well as The Merry Widow, The Consul, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and The Ghosts of Versailles while at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music.

He is a recipient of the The William Matheus Sullivan Musical Foundation Career Grant. Concert work includes Verdi Messa da Requiem, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Bach Mass in B Minor and Medelssohn Lobgesang. He has been an artist at Chautauqua Opera and Central City Opera and has performed frequently with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Geoffrey is a graduate of Northwestern University and the University of Central Florida.
